Don Bielke

Donald P. "Don" Bielke (born 1932) is a retired American basketball player.
He played collegiately for the Valparaiso University.
He was selected by the Fort Wayne Pistons in the 8th round (67th pick overall) of the 1954 NBA Draft.
He played for the Fort Wayne Pistons (1955–56) in the NBA for 7 games.
After his NBA playing days, Bielke went on to coach basketball at California Concordia College for 16 years, and at California Lutheran University for another ten, winning over 550 games in his collegiate coaching career. He also was a professor in the kinesiology department.
At California Concordia College and the Academy of California Concordia College, Bielke led classes with a very restrict demeanor. On his first day teaching he made the entire Academy senior physical education class run laps continuously and do multiple pushups because one student refused to admit he was tired after preliminary warm-ups. One student began crying saying, "I can't do it anymore." But Bielke insisted that the entire class period be spent on running laps around the field. Source for comments in this paragraph: Philip Seyer, student at California Concordia from 1955 to 1962.
